A BETTER ALTERNATIVE FOR THE MINDFUL TRAVELLER
PROJECTKIN creates iconic travel products by combining the Nordic design philosophy with sustainable materials to reduce the environmental impact of traveling.
We live our purpose by working with iconic designers to create products from innovative materials that are completely natural, yet perform as well - or better - than conventional, more pollutive plastics and cotton-based products.
We aim to inspire more sustainable choices. We call it sustainable conduct.
Our products are high quality, aesthetically beautiful and made to last. Buy less, but buy quality.
We will not solve our world's sustainability challenges, but we hope to help push the bar by creating better, more sustainable materials for products that are plastic or cotton-based today.
Travelling presents a paradox, as we all want to care for the planet, but we are explorers. In this reality, we must make our footprint minimal.
We contribute by using materials that replace plastics, by making products made to last and by creating design that becomes even more beautiful with use.
Our mantra is ‘TRAVEL MINDFULLY’. That means using the better alternative where we can – whether it is transport, luggage or food.
We spent 3 years experimenting and perfecting the use natural materials for luggage – and we have created the first product in the world that avoids use of pollutive plastics for hard-case luggage. We hope to inspire the luggage industry to follow our lead.
PROJECTKIN is a Nordic brand founded in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2017 with an ambition to change the game in the luggage industry by setting a higher standard for sustainability, quality and design.
We believe that by creating the better alternative we can continue to push the bar in terms of sustainability and by creating beautiful products that are made to last and loved by the people who use them, we change how people think about their travel products.
Boris Berlin is an iconic figure on the global design stage and has been an industrial designer for more than 35 years. He has been known to push conventional boundaries through his use of innovative materials and has a deep rooted belief in solving sustainability challenges through good design. We are truly proud to have Boris as part of the PROJECTKIN design universe.
Boris was educated at the Higher School of Art and Industry, Russia 1975. His work is represented in multiple design museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
He is a recipient of several design awards, including the Danish Design Award and was awarded the Thorvald Bindesbøll Medal by the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
Copenhagen-native Thomas Bentzen has spent his career creating innovative designs for some of the leading design brands around the world, including the legendary audio brand Bang & Olufsen and the innovative furniture brand Muuto.
Since his early years as a designer, Thomas has worked with a wide range of materials to create steel tables, wooden chairs, textile cushions, porcelain mugs, and much more. PROJECTKIN represents a new foray into the world of travel, a challenge that spoke to Thomas' eagerness to create beautiful, functional products that are made to last. We believe Thomas has managed to do exactly that.
Since 2010, Thomas has had his own industrial design studio, where he continues to explore the form and function of materials, and to design durable and lasting products.
Travelling will always present a paradox to those who want to care for the planet. We are all explorers who want to see the world, but travelling is a major source of carbon emissions. In this reality, we must make our footprint minimal.
PROJECTKIN is a movement in response to this paradox. We want to create better alternatives for the mindful traveler. We do this by using materials that replace plastics, by making products made to last and by creating design that becomes even more beautiful with use.
Our mantra is ‘TRAVEL MINDFULLY’. While we cannot travel without a footprint, we can all do our part to protect the planet. That means using the better alternative where we can – whether it is transport, luggage or food, we believe in a world where travel is still a source of happiness for us all while done in a environmentally conscious way. Our beliefs are backed by action. We spent 3 years experimenting and perfecting the use natural materials for luggage – and we have created the first product in the world that avoids use of pollutive plastics for hard-case luggage. We hope to inspire the luggage industry to follow our lead.
Sustainability is – unlike any other luggage brand – at the forefront of all our design choices.
We shy away from plastics where possible (only our wheels need to be plastic to retain world-class durability). We use plastic-free packaging. We use hemp and flax as these are the most sustainable raw materials (others use polyester, cotton with more than 5 times the environmental footprint).
We are passionate about creating high quality products in collaboration with world-class designers who are passionate about providing a better alternative to consumers in terms of sustainability.
We are bold in our use of new materials and want to embrace the use of the natural expression of materials such as flax, hemp and leather. Our products are designed to become even more beautiful as they are used, in opposition to the ‘buy new’ culture of the luggage industry today.
The only truly sustainable choice is to make products that last – and to make them using the most sustainable material possible. We truly believe we have made the best product with the highest quality available today.
